Ultrasound Pic

I have been meaning to post this for a couple of weeks! When I had to go into the hospital on Valentine's Day they did an ultrasound. They had the 4D option which I had never seen before, nor had I ever had a ultrasound this far along. It was an amazing experience! Here is a photo we got of baby Jack!

Prep Work

What to do in a snow storm? Snuggle with my little man and cook a ton!!! We were suppose to have our last music class today and of course it was canceled. I was super annoyed this morning when it happened because seriously people.... this is Maine. We have had a ton of snow this winter and you should be use to it by now. Businesses and people act like we live in the Carolinas and never get snow. Buna and I ventured out this morning to the bank and the grocery store to get all the supplies we needed, if you take your time and pay attention, your fine. Though by the look out the window, it has gotten worse. Yesterday I planned the daycare menu for the month of March so that Danielle and I would have that under control while I'm on leave.

So let the cooking begin! So far I have made spaghetti "IN" turkey meatballs (a daycare favorite), regular meatballs and homemade spaghetti sauce. This afternoon I will be making chili and lasagna roll ups. I have also got to watch part of Toy Story 3 and do a little cuddling with Buna... not many days left that we can enjoy this one on one time!

Dinner With Friends

This week our friends Nick & Kati Varney brought over dinner. Kati did it when I was pregnant last time and it was so nice. This time it was the night after I was in the hospital so it was such a help. Peter and Whitney are good friends, they had a blast playing together and we had a great dinner. Thanks again~

A Romantic Dinner for 2 at....

....... the Maine Medical Center Cafe! I went to my 37 week checkup at my doctor's today. I haven't been feeling well the last couple days. I mentioned to the doctor that the baby hadn't been that active today so the put me on a fetal monitor to do a non stress test. After a half hour the baby wasn't moving as much as they would like so they decided to send me into Maine Med for an ultrasound. I called Pete at work and he met me there. They said I was dehydrated and started an iv to pump some fluids in. We also got an ultrasound.... by then the iv had been in for a bit and the baby started being more active. They kept me for a bit on the fetal monitor after the ultrasound, then came in to tell me that everything looked good I just needed to go home to rest and drink lots of water. As we were leaving we stopped at the cafe to eat and enjoyed a nice quiet dinner! Happy Valentine's Day!!

Peter's Cars Room!

We had planned on moving Peter to the back room when we found out we were pregnant. At first I thought about doing a train themed room for him but as the months have gone by I noticed he was really into cars. Then we showed him the movie Cars and it was all over... it became an obsession! It was only right that we make his new bedroom a Cars themed room.
the before photo...... Peter is actually wearing his Lighting McQueen PJ's

Pete removed all the wood trim to match the rest of the house which has white trim. He then painted the top part of the room white and the bottom of the room a blue we found at Home Depot called Mountain Spring, I love the color!

All the trim is up and painted white. We put a Cars themed border around the room.

Wednesday night we put together the twin bed and hung the curtains. Peter loved it. He slept in his room for the first time on Thursday night and did get! Slept until 6, which is fine for me. I can get up early no problem as long as I sleep good at night!

sleeping in his big boy bed for the 1st time!

A few months ago my Dad asked me if the boys would like the Nascar cars that he has collected a few years ago. I said yes, we were actually doing a car themed room and it would be perfect. On Friday night he came over to hang the cases and it was a hit. Buna loved them. He has spent the few days waving at them and pointing at them making car noises.

Papa showing his all the cars he put up.
We got him cars bedding & curtains and finally got to set up the train table that Nonni & Poppi got him for Christmas. Another big hit! He loves his new room!

One Promise Kept Book Review

Book Description

“One Promise Kept” is a nonfiction book written by Steve Webster, head of detectives for the city of South Portland, Maine.

The book chronicles a law enforcement career marked by extreme highs, bitter lows and one case that would not let Steve rest until he solved it.

Steve is a natural storyteller with a distinctive voice that combines compassion with dark humor. He takes you inside the most memorable cases in his career as a detective, and inside his head as he interacts with drug dealers, bank robbers, good samaritans and cold-blooded killers.

Co-written with news reporter Trevor Maxwell of the Portland Press Herald.

Personal Thoughts
An excellent book. It was an easy read, a great job explaining his detective work and the emotions that go along with it and I liked that I knew all the places he was talking about. Steve's sister is a good family friend and I knew a few other cops and attorneys he talks about in the book. If you are looking for a quick read and have an interest in law enforcement, you'll like this book! Anyone want to borrow my copy?

Menu Plan Monday

Poor Pete has dealt great with my food aversions during this pregnancy. When talking about the menu this week I told him to pick it all and I would do whatever. Pete is not a big fan of pasta while, I could seriously eat pasta every night, and might as well take advantage of being able to do it while I'm pregnant! So here is menu plan Monday according to Pete!

Monday: Chicken Divian
Tuesday: Haddock & french fries
Wednesday: Chicken Havarti
Thursday: Boys night, I have class....
Friday: Take out!!

Outside Play

When Pete got home from work the other day, we took Peter outside and he had a blast! We were out for over an hour, he would't go in! We took a walk around the neighborhood because he wanted to and proceeded to wave to everyone out shoveling or snowblowing. He really enjoyed a sled ride from Daddy around the yard and down our back hill!

Going for a sled ride....

having lots of fun :)

Music Class

Last Friday, Buna and I started a music class at Peekaboo Children's Place in Westbrook. I thought it would be great to do something like this before the baby comes. We go to Peekaboo often, it is a great indoor playspace for kids his age. I thought the music class would be great, but I think it's awful.and won't be signing up again! It's basically like paying for storytime at the library. After the first class many parents complained! It is run separate from Peekaboo, the women rents the room from them. I am doing it still, just so I can have this time with my little guy before baby "dos" arrives.

getting some playtime in before class!

His friend Cayla is in the class with him.

love being able to do things with him like this :)

Chicken Pot Pie

Yum, yum, yum!! Thanks to the Kahn's nanny, Lori, I now have a new favorite recipe! The recipe calls for chicken but due to my food aversion, I left it out and added a few more veggies, highlighted in red, and turned it into a veggie pot pie. The daycare kids loved it as well!

Ingredients

1/3 cup butter
1/3 cup flour
1/3 cup chopped onion
1/3 cup chopped celery
1 package frozen peas & carrots (I used a frozen stew package.. potatoes, carrots, peas, onion)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 3/4 cups chicken broth
2/3 cup milk
2 1/2 - 3 cups of cut up cooked chicken or turkey
1 package of Pillsbury's pie crust

Directions
Heat oven to 425. Rise frozen veggies to separate, drain. Heat butter in saucepan over medium heat until melted, stir in flour, salt & pepper. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture is bubbly, remove from heat. Stir in broth & milk, heat to boiling, stirring constantly... add in chicken & veggies. Pour mixture into pie crust bottom. Place top pie crust on. Bake about 35 minutes or until golden brown

Snowed In!!!

For the 5th consecutive Wednesday, it has snowed! The news said we should get 10 -16 inches today and so far we are on that path! It is so pretty outside, here are a few images from this morning!
