Television Postpartum

I am an emotional person to begin with. Watching tv since I gave birth, I think I have cried every day. Sometimes I just get choked up, other times I am balling. Sometimes it's because something was really sad to me, sometimes it's because something was so sweet or happy. Here is a show and a movie I watched for the first time this weekend......

Description: Lifetime Television has an all-new reality series “Coming Home,” featuring U.S. soldiers’ surprise family reunions across the country after serving long tours of duty on behalf of the country. Paying tribute to American armed forces personnel and their families, “Coming Home” follows the surprise reunions of soldiers from all five branches of the military with their spouses, children, parents and other loved ones as they return home from active duty throughout the world

My Thoughts: I think this is my new favorite show! However, 3 weeks postpartum, I cried the entire show! It was so heartwarming and sad at the same time. This will be set to the DVR weekly. Sunday nights on Lifetime.

Description: Caterer Holly Berenson (Katherine Heigl) and network sports director Eric Messer (Josh Duhamel) discover a reciprocal hatred during an ill-fated first date -- but are forced to put their feelings aside when their mutual friends die and they become the guardians for orphaned Sophie. Now, Holly and Eric must learn to live with each other and juggle their promising careers while taking care of the little girl in this romantic comedy.

My Thoughts: Pete and I rented this Friday night. Yes, it is a romantic comedy but, if you have small children it is not so funny. I cried a bunch of times just thinking about if this happened to my boys. Yes, I know I am emotional and can be xtreme but even Pete said as parent now, this movie is sad to him at parts also.

Maple Sunday!

Maple Sunday, every 4th Sunday in March! Pete and I have gone every year but one, they canceled last year because of the warm weather the sugar houses could not produce enough maple syrup. All over the state sugar houses open to the public. You can see how they make maple syrup, and they have samples to try. We have always gone in the Windham/Gorham area. This year we were going to go up towards Hebron/West Minot. Then we got real. We have a 3 week old and a 2 year old... wasn't going to happen. We were going back & forth about what to due when my Mom called and offered to watch Jack because it was cold. Jack was dropped off with Nonni & Poppi. We decided to go to Nash Valley Farm, less then 10 minutes from my Mom. They had wagon rides, cows, ice cream with maple syrup samples and a store filled with syrup, maple butter, maple cotton candy, maple sugared doughnuts and more! When we got out my first thought was, Jack would have froze, thank god we bundled up Peter! We lasted about 45 minutes and decided to call it a day. Peter had a great time though and didn't seem cold, it was us that were freezing! We were going to head to Merrifield Farm, one of our favorites, but decided we were too cold! We enjoyed the morning and the one on one time with Peter.

Loading wood into the boiler in the sugar house.

I think his favorite thing was seeing the cows!
Enjoying a horse drawn wagon ride.

While we froze, Jack stayed warm with Nonni & Poppi!

This...

Got a baby boy sleeping in my bedroom
And his daddy laughing in my arms
There's the sound of rain on the rooftop
And the game's about to start

I don't really know how I got here
But I'm sure glad that I did
And it's crazy to think that one little thing
Could've changed all of it

Maybe it didn't turn out like I planned
Maybe that's why I'm such, such a lucky woman

For every stoplight I didn't make
Every chance I did or I didn't take
All the nights I went too far
All the boys that broke my heart
All the doors that I had to close
All the things I knew but I didn't know
Thank God for all I missed
Cause it led me here to
This

All the fights and the tears and the heartache
I thought I'd never get through
And the moment I almost gave up
All lead me here to you

I didn't understand it way back when
But sitting here right now it all makes perfect sense

The Alphabet of Right Now

8 years ago (holy god!), I met a wonderful women named Lindsey Mead. She writes a beautiful blog called A Design So Vast. I wish I could write like her, I love reading her words. She did a post a while back called The Alphabet of Right Now and I loved it! So here is my own......

A -Alright. I love this song. Last night Peter and I were playing cars in his room and the song came on the radio. I realized this is exactly how I feel about my life and got a little misty eyed (I'll blame post pregnancy emotions). "It may be a simple life, but that's okay. If you ask me baby, I think I've got it made."

B -Blog. I love having one, I love following them.

C -Cornville. It feels like a world away. I love the relaxing feeling I have the entire time I am there. We didn't get up enough last summer, I hope to get there at least once a month May - September. We hope to start building our camp next year.

D -Disney World. I want to take my boys so bad... need to wait a few more years!

E -Exercise. I wish Jackie Warner would come to my house and thintervention my ass! Since she lives in California, I'm going to have to motivate myself. Wish me luck.

F -Facebook. I'm addicted.

G -Guacamole. I refused to try an avocado until last year because I just knew I wouldn't like it. Now I can't get enough!

H -Husband. I hit the jackpot in this department. Words can't really describe my true emotions for him. I am so lucky to have Pete in my life. We've been together for almost 8 years and it doesn't feel like that long at all! He is amazing and deals with my wacky ideas and crazy highs & lows. Seeing him as a Dad.... very sexy :)

I -Improvements. I feel the list is endless for improvements we want done around the house! New washer/dryer, paint kitchen, carpet bedrooms, refinish hardwood floors, etc.

J -Jack. My sweet baby boy Jack, has made our family complete.

K -King Pine. I have great memories of going here with my family. I would like for all of us to bring the kids in a few years.

L -Laura. I heart my sister.

M -Murphy. Who I am. My son's middle name.

N -Nicole. I heart my sister.

O - Outlet Shopping. Love it, though it's hit or miss. It's great that I have both Freeport(15 min.) & Kittery(45 min) close to me. I want to go to Wrenthem for my next outlet adventure.

P -Peter. He is almost 2(quietly sobbing). He makes me laugh every day :)

Q -Quietness. A rarity in this house right now.

R -Reality tv. Bethenny Ever After, Real Housewives, Teen Mom, Million Dollar Listing, 16 & Pregnant, Kardashian's and American Idol just to name a few. I can't get enough!

S -Sleep. I miss you......

T -Travel. Pete and I have a lot of plans. It use to be all about where we wanted to go. Now when we talk about a trip we realize, there are so many places we can't wait to take the boys!

U -UCONN. Ever since I lived in CT, I have been a fan of the UCONN Women's Basketball team.

V -Vino... aka wine. Oh how I've missed you!

W -Westbrook. I got out, yet here I am sucked back in. We bought our first house in sight of the first one my parents bought. Both Pete and I want out... hoping to move to Windham in the next couple years before the boys start school.

X -Xtreme. A word that can describe me sometimes. Thank God I have Pete to balance me out... though whenever I get near a Verizon store, I can't help myself, haha.

Y -Yo Gabba Gabba. This show drives me insane!

Z -Zumba. LOVE IT, I don't even feel like I'm exercising! I can start back up in 5 weeks!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

As you can see from the photo above, it wasn't a happy time in the Wescott house when trying to take this photo! I love their matching shirts, I couldn't help myself, we're celebrating our irish heritage today!! This is the best I could do because when you see the next photo taken 10 minutes later it will all make sense!

love them :)

What a Morning!

I have one smart kid! As soon as I go to feed Jack, he knows he can have run of the house. It becomes a free for all for him, and he thinks he is so funny! The following photos describes our morning......

When I came around the corner to check him, he told me to "GO!". It's because he had decided to load his truck up with dog food and put some in Bela's water bowl and stir it with a spoon!

Then he got the recycling can... dump it in the living room and used it as a drum!

after lunch he grabbed the plunger from the bathroom, layed on the floor and fell asleep! class="mobile-photo">

it's exhausting being Mr. Mischief!

Introducing Jack Murphy Wescott......

Our son, Jack Murphy Wescott, arrived Friday, March 4th at 9:24 am! Weighing 7 lbs, 12 ozs and he is 20 inches long. Pete and I were home watching ironically watching the movie Due Date, when he noticed that I was commenting on my contractions more. We started timing them and realized they were now 5 minutes apart. I called the doctor and we got to the hospital on Thursday night around 11. As soon as we got to the hospital they were about three minutes apart and intense... holy crap I had forgotten how crazy they get! Around 2am I decided to try the epidural, ahh what a relief. I didn't have one last time and what a difference it made! Finally around 8 am I started really feeling pressure with the contractions and at 9:09 started pushing. Jack arrived 14 minutes later!! Pete and I couldn't believe how much he looked like Peter when he was a baby. Big brother Peter arrived shortly after to meet his new brother but he really wanted nothing to do with him, he wanted Mommy time:) When he returned in the afternoon he was more interested in Jack and gave him a kiss goodbye when he left. Pete and I are overjoyed and very blessed with our family of four!

meeting my son Jack.

Easy Entertainment

The other day my friend Cristina sent me a big package of diapers for baby Jack. While putting them in his room, I came back out to find Peter amusing himself by hiding in the box. He was entertained by this for about 30 minutes. Who needs toys when you have cardboard boxes, haha!

closing himself in......

try and find me Mom!!

Here I am!
