Tri For A Cure

36. Complete Tri For A Cure.
I got to check another item off my 40 before 40 list! On Sunday, July 27th, I participated in a sprint triathlon!! I swam 1/3 of a mile, biked 15 miles and ran 3.2 miles! It was such an amazing, incredible event to be part of! You can participate as a relay time or by yourself and it was all me! I was so nervous because with coaching lacrosse, I didn't get much time to train. I only trained for about 5 weeks!
This is the first time I biked 15 miles!
I did my open water swim training up at my Mom's on Little Sebago Lake!

The day before the race, I went over to pick up my race packet!
The morning of the race, I left the house at 6am. I was so nervous. I wrote on my arms the names of the people in my family effected by cancer.
The swim was first! There was 11 heats, and I was in the 3rd heat. The 1st heat to go into the water is the cancer survivors. The 2nd heat was the cancer survivors relay. It was a beautiful, emotional start to the race.
Proudly cheering on the survivors coming out of the water. They were the 1st heat!
In the water!
Peter watching me swim!
Out of the water and transitioning into the bike portion!
Riding the bike
I love this picture of my Mom cheering me on!
I made it back! I had some bike problems and had to stop a couple times to fix the chain, but I did it!
Transitioning from the bike to the final stretch.... the run!
I enjoyed the whole experience!
Met some great ladies to finish the race with.
Getting cheers & high fives from my family after finishing!
My amazing support :)
 Post race celebration!

Lobster Dip

3. Participate in the Lobster Dip on New Years Day.
Well, I crossed another one off my 40 before 40 list! I put in on my list after reading Peter MacVane's obituary last month. He was a close friend of a family brother-in-law. It was a last minute decision this year to do it but when my sister in law Cynthia told me she was doing it, I knew it would easier to accomplish with others! She was jumping in with Katelyn's Dad and sister......so down to Old Orchard Beach I went!

Cyn and I trying to warm up with a beverage before we dive into the ocean :)
You know it's not the smartest thing to be doing when state divers are in the water "just in case"!
Undressing to jump in! It was windy out!
Lisa took this picture of us and on Facebook captioned it reconsidering? LOL!
I took this picture when watching the news that night. An aerial photo of all us crazies going in!
coming out! (thanks for the picture Lisa!)
I did it!! I actually was a "double dipper". I went in twice!
Our first family photo of 2013!
Cynthia and Katelyn
After we went in and changed we tried to warm up by steaming hot water on our faces!
Final report: I would actually do it again! I found that because the water temperature was the same as the air, going into the water wasn't as shocking as I thought it would be. Heck, I went back in! It was the after that was tough. The wind and freezing cold toes was brutal! Even after I dressed I was cold for hours! I am glad I can now say that I am one of the nuts that jumped into the ocean on January 1st!

Florida - Magic Kingdom

*Lots of pictures* Long Post*
On the Monday we were in Florida, since it was only an hour away, Pete and I decided to take the boys to Disney World!! We had so much fun! We pulled into the Magic Kingdom parking lot and 8am and didn't pull out of it until 8pm! It ended up being a pretty cold day and we did not know that Thanksgiving week is one of the busiest weeks of the year! The boys were so great that day and it was a magical family day :)

It was already decorated for Christmas :)
Our first ride was Winne the Pooh!
Peter LOVED the Barnstormer roller coaster so we each took him on!
Pete & Peter on the Buzz Lightyear ride!
Oh No! Zurg got us :)
In line to see Sully & Mike!
The boys We all loved seeing the characters!
Riding Magic Carpets
On the Jungle Cruise, Jack fell asleep :)
Since it wasn't going to be a great beach day, Laura and her family ended up coming shortly after us! We met up with them and went on Pirates of the Caribbean together!
Snack time in front of Splash Mountain.
Jack and I waiting for the parade to begin!
The parade was great!
The boys got many high fives from the characters!
I loved seeing Cinderella :)
We ran into Dylan & Lola again!
Jack getting in another quick nap :)
One of the best parts of the day for the boys was meeting Woody & Jessie!
When someone would yell "Andy is coming!' They would fall down, Peter loved it!
Another family favorite, It's A Small World!
Our last ride of the night was the Carousel!
We got to enjoy the seeing the Castle all lite up!
Because I didn't have enough, LOL, I had to get a few more of the boys before we got on the monorail!
It was a wonderful, memory making, day!
