Tie Dye T-Shirt Project!

This week is spirit week at the daycare! Today is Tie Dye day! I knew it would be hard for parents to find shirts at stores, so I thought.. why not make some?!!

Kristen checking out the kit I got at JoAnn Fabrics...it can't be to hard right?!

The kit has easy directions! Packets of colors were in the kit, we put into the bottle, then we filled the bottles up to a water line marked. We had 2 adult shirts to make and 9 kid shirts. It also came with more packets of colors so we could make more or save for another day!
All the colors...we're ready to start!
To make a swirl tie dye, I took a fork to twirl it up, then used the elastics to secure it.
We also used the elastics to make different types of patterns, then started dyeing!
It got messy!!!
After we dyed all the shirts we wrapped them in plastic bags and let them set for 16 hours.
After they set, I took each one and rinsed them with cold water. A lot of dye comes out when you squeeze all the water out...wear gloves still!
I then placed them all in a basket to wash. I washed each one separately in hot water.

Cumberland Fair

I love fairs :) I got to go to the Cumberland Fair twice this week...once I took that daycare for a field trip and on Thursday night we went as a family with Ben & Bethany.

The group! Poppi chaperoned for the 2nd year!
LOVE this pic of the kids looking at the pumpkins ;)
with Violet & Jack on the wagon ride.

We had plans to go as a family on Saturday to watch the truck pull(we're big fans) but the weather was not looking promising so we met Ben, Bethany & Mackenna on Thursday night instead. Good idea, it rained all day on Saturday.
It was quite a feat trying to get a picture of these three!!!

Checking out the petting zoo
Tractor time!
Jack getting some tractor brochures, he's hoping Santa might bring him one :)
We let Peter play one of the kid games :)
Two great Dads ;)
Trying to get Jack to sit still or even look for a photo is nearly impossible!
Being silly in front of the ferris wheel....
Love this picture, thanks to Poppi who joined us again that evening for taking the pic!

Tomato Pasta Stoup

I got a ton of old Rachel Ray magazines from my Mom the other day, and I spent Sunday evening going through them all and pulling out recipes that I would want to try. When I saw this one, I knew it would be perfect for the daycare kids. Soups are really messy for the young ones so when I make Chicken Soup, I always add more rice so that it absorbs more of the liquid making it easier for the kids. Well this one was perfect for them!

You only need a few ingredients!

Mince up 1 cup each of celery, carrot and onion. In a large pot cook veggies in 2 tbsp of EVOO until tender.
Add 4 cups of vegetable broth and 1 15 oz. can of tomato puree; bring to boil. Add 2 cups of ditalini and cook to al dente; season with salt and pepper.
Serve sprinkled with grated parmesan cheese!

Cupcake Heaven

Today I had a cupcake decorating party for the daycare kids. It was a big hit! As you can see from the photos, Peter did more eating then decorating!! He really enjoyed himself!

Loving this treat!

This is his new "cheese" face, whenever he now sees me taking a picture......he makes this face!
