End of an era
The end of an era..... Almost 4 years ago I went to work at the Kahn's, so much has happened in those 4 years. We got married, bought a house, Peter was bron, they moved from Falmouth to Kennebunk, they had Evelyn.. and so many more memories. They were the ones that called him "Baby Gus" so I think that will retire with them. There was a lot of crying today but, I am excited for this next chapter. They are and will always be family to me!

O' Christmas Tree
Three years ago we started a tradition with Pete's cousin Kyle and his girlfriend Sara, act like the Griswold's and go out and find, then cut down the perfect Christmas tree. It was just the four of us when we started..... as you can see the group has grown to include friends, dogs and babies! We always go to Staples in Windham the first weekend in December.
We found our tree within 15 minutes of getting there this year! I was just starting to snow, which I loved!
On Sunday morning we decorated it and had to put a gate up since the little man is everywhere now! That night he was already trying to figure out how to touch the tree!

I Heart My Crockpot!
I have been using my crockpot about twice a week in the last month! I don't get home until after 6 and with a baby, a crockpot is magic!! I have been trying a bunch of new recipes but I think this one is my current favorite!! I now add a little cooked bacon when I add the cream now!
Hearty Potato Soup
Ingredients
6 potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/2-inch cubes (2 1/2 pounds)
2 medium onions, diced
2 carrots, thinly sliced
2 celery ribs, thinly sliced
2 (14 1/2-ounce) cans low-sodium fat-free chicken broth
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups fat-free half-and-half
Preparation
Combine first 8 ingredients in a 4 1/2-quart slow cooker.
Cook, covered, at HIGH 3 hours or until vegetables are tender.
Stir together flour and half-and-half; stir into soup. Cover and cook 30 minutes or until thoroughly heated. Serve in Italian Bread Bowls, and garnish, if desired.

Retiring Gus
As many of you know, we started calling Peter, "Gus", just a few weeks along in my pregnany. We he was born, many people still called him that including us for a few months. That is the only way the Kahn boys refer to him. Less and less I have been calling him that and now it is time to retire the nickname. Labels on posts refering to him will now be under Peter...... Goodbye Gus!

It's Been A Long Time!
Well I have been on a two month break...but I am back! I took a break because I wasn't sure how many people were actually reading the blog. To my surprise I was asked a lot why I hadn't posted lately! So here I am.
A lot has happened in two months. In our lives we have attended three weddings and had three new babies enter our life! Whitney Camilla Varney, Cayla Mae Sullivan and Evelyn May Kahn all were born in two week intervals. Our little man has a bunch of ladies to chose from! We also got a new family member when Jenny and Craig were married at the end of August. Ben and Bethany and Tim and Tianna also had great weddings.
Peter has is growing faster then I can handle! I rarely call him Gus anymore, though the Kahn boys still do! I now usually call him Peter or Buna. Buna(a cross between buddy and buddda) At his 6 month check up he was 21.8 pounds!
We are staying busy and I will be back on more often!

Katahdin Trip
Life with a 4 month old can be really tiring! Pete decided a few weeks back that it would be really good for us to try and get away just him and I. We have had a crazy summer and an even crazier fall coming up! I thought it was a great idea. Go camping for the weekend and relax! Ha! He got the idea to hike Mt. Katahdin, the highest moutain in Maine! It's elevation is 5,268 ft! It was named by the Penobscot Indians meaning " The Greatest Moutain". It is also the finish point of the Appalachian Trail. The most famous hike to the summit goes along Knife Edge, commonly misnamed "Knife's Edge", which traverses the ridge between Pamola Peak and South Baxter Peak. The mountain has claimed 19 lives since 1963, mostly from exposure in bad weather and falls from the Knife Edge. The Knife Edge is closed during periods of high wind.It was one of the hardest things I have ever down but one of the coolest!

Happy Birthday Gus!
Another month older! Our little man turned 4 months old today! He is getting so big and really becoming aware of the world around him. He goes for his 4 month checkup next week and I can't wait to find out how tall is he and what he weighs!!
This is my favorite picture of him right now! I took it on Saturday up at my mom's. He loved the lake, he enjoyed in his crab float!

Busy Weekend - part 2
My sister in law Jenny is getting married on August 29th. This past Sunday we had her bridal shower. After a bit of a scare with the weather, it turned out beautiful and we were able to have it outside. It was a great time!

Busy Weekend - part 1
This past weekend the "Hooper" girls got together for the annual girls weekend. The boys have a golf tournament every year so a few years ago, my Mom started hosting the ladies. It has really turned into more of a ladies/kids weekend but it is a good time. It was a really busy weekend for me but Gus and I were able to head up and enjoy ourselves and he got to meet "Nana" Betty for the first time. Betty was my Nana's best friend since they were 9, so she is part of the family! It was great having her meet Gwen & Gus!
